97.8% students from state clear ICSE, 98.8% ISC
Bhubaneswar: Students from the state recorded an impressive overall pass rate of 97.80% in ICSE (Class X) and 98.89% in ISC (Class XII) exams, whose results were declared by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Wednesday. The national pass rate for ICSE and ISC are 99.09% and 99.02%, respectively.
A total of 8,968 students appeared for the ICSE exam from 96 schools across the state, while 1,628 sat for the ISC papers from 35 schools. Girls registered a pass percentage of 98.22%, while 97.42% boys passed in Class X. In Class XII, girls outperformed with a pass percentage of 99.10% compared to 98.71% by boys.
All six city schools affiliated to the CICSE registered 100% pass rate. In Loyola School here, Aadit Samal topped by securing 99%, while Aryan Sar and Ayush Bothra stood second with 98.8%. Reetika De and Subhrasikta Das scored 98.6%. Among the Class XII students, Sanay Samuel Nayak topped in science with 93.25%, Sanskruti Routray topped in commerce with 90.5%, and Ranya Thakur topped in humanities with 96.75% marks.
In St Joseph's High School in the city, Aditi Bansal is the topper in Class X, scoring 98.6% marks. Pekham Kar is the school topper in science with 95.5%, Kritika Narula topped in commerce stream with 93.25%, and Alisha Samantray scored the highest of 92.25% in humanities.
New Stewart School in Cuttack registered 100% pass rate with Debajeet Mohanty becoming the school topper, scoring 98.2%.
According to the council's data, in Odisha, 628 SC candidates took the Class X examination, achieving a pass percentage of 95.54%. Similarly, 1,133 ST candidates appeared for the exam, achieving a pass percentage of 92.32%, and 1,464 OBC students sat for the papers, achieving a pass rate of 98.66%. As many as 120 boys and 77 girls failed in ICSE.
Similarly, for ISC, 96 SC, 244 ST and 178 OBC students appeared for the exam and recorded a pass rate of 98.96%, 98.36%, and 98.31%, respectively. A total of 20 students failed in the Class XII exam.
