DHAR: A 17-year-old student was murdered by a classmate after she stopped talking to him in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district, police reported on Sunday.
The body of the Class 12 student was discovered on Saturday in an agricultural field within the jurisdiction of the Umarban police post, which is around 70 km from the district headquarters, according to officials.
Additional superintendent of police Gitesh Garg stated that a probe was initiated following information about the murder. Police received information that a classmate had been harassing her.
During police questioning, the accused confessed to the murder, stating that he was upset as she had stopped speaking to him.
The accused arranged to meet the girl on Friday night in an agricultural field, where he killed her using a sharp weapon.
Authorities indicated that further legal steps would be taken based on forensic evidence.
