Golden State Warriors’ star Stephen Curry congratulated Draymond Green on winning the 2024-205 NBA Hustle Award, but could not hide his frustration at Green’s loss of the DPOY honor. On the other hand, fans brutally mocked Green for winning the Hustle award, calling it a ‘charity DPOY’ and comparing it to a consolation prize.

The NBA announced Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green as the 2024-2025 Hustle Award winner. The announcement created a stir among the fans and the basketball fraternity, and all had something to say about it. Draymond Green’s teammate and basketball icon, Stephen Curry, took to his Instagram story and congratulated the veteran on winning the honor. While doing so, he made a bold remark on DPOY awards. Here is what he wrote in his congratulatory message:
“Respect. Definitely my DPOY too, but see you on 1st team.”

Draymond Green was nominated for the DPOY Award along with the Cavaliers’ Evan Mobley and the New Orleans Pelicans’ Dyson Daniels. Evan Mobley bagged the honor, surpassing the other nominees.

Fans brutally mock Draymond Green’s Hustle Award win


When the NBA announced the 2024-2025 Hustle Award winner as Draymond Green and shared the information on X, it attracted a deluge of mocking comments from fans. The NBA shared the announcement, saying:
“The winner of the 2024-25 NBA Hustle Award is... Draymond Green! #NBAAwards
The award honors a player who makes the effort plays that do not often appear in the box score but help determine team success.”

Fans reacted strongly to the announcement and had varied opinions. A few seemed unhappy with the selection; others mocked the decision hilariously.
“Is this award like a participation trophy? @grok please explain,” wrote one fan.
“In 2025 this oldie still gets awards like this over young killers like Amen Thompson, Caruso, Dillon Brooks etc? A joke,” a fan said, ridiculing the award.
“so we calling unnecessary contact on-court as HUSTLE now huh,” commented a fan, pointing at the Green’s encounters on the court.
“DRAYMOND ain't trying to hear allat..Da boy wanted DPOY,” wrote a fan, mentioning Green’s recent DYOP Award miss.

“Lmao might as well create a award for best hand clapper on the bench,” said a fan, questioning the award’s relevance.
Though the majority of fans mocked the award, a few fans welcomed the announcement and appreciated Draymond Green for being an active force on the court. A supportive fan called it a 'well-deserved' win.
Draymond Green had a defensive rating of 108.4. His other performance statistics included 9.0 points, 5.6 assists, and 6.1 rebounds on average. According to a CBS Sports report, he stood 10th in defensive box outs, 15th in deflections, and 13th in contested 2-point shots among 143 eligible players.
