The infamous Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo's feud has resurfaced as fans begin to speculate if Ilia Topuria is copying The Notorious in taking a dig at fellow fighter Charles Oliveira. Topuria decided to vacate the featherweight title and move up to the lightweight division, and ever since, he has been targeting fighters for a bout, but nothing has materialized yet. Another fighter that Topuria decided to call out was Islam Makhachev, the current lightweight champion, for a direct championship bout.

Ilia Topuria continues to call out veteran fighters from the lightweight division aiming at a potential bout

Ilia Topuria vacated his featherweight title after the UFC executives promised him bouts with top veterans of the lightweight division, as stated by him in an interview.
“That was the promise when I vacated the title because I’m going for [the lightweight belt]. I could’ve done it another way like, ‘I’m going to wait until they send a contract to sign, then I’ll vacate the title… Everything they’ve promised me, they fulfilled.”

The Spanish fighter did not hesitate to call out the current lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, and contender, Charles Oliveira. However, with no positive response from either of the fighters, Topuria accused them of being scared. Despite the criticism received by the members of the MMA community for his reckless comments, Topuria did not step down from making yet another statement on Oliveira, which found its similarity to a statement made by McGregor back in 2016. A user in Reddit translated the Spanish comment made by Topuria in the lines of:
"[...] So for him [Charles] to say he's the king and I'm the clown, if these were different times, I would have invaded his favela on horseback and killed anyone who is not fit to work, but we're in new times, so I'll just kick his ass.”
MMA fans responded to it immediately. One of the users stated, “He did not seriously plagiarize Mcgreggor”
Another one stated, “it's the McGregor favela speech”

The heated war of words between Ilia Topuria and Charles Oliveira is getting intense every passing day. Even though there is no probably bout getting fixed between the two anytime soon, El Matador does not seem to budge from his stand of calling out the veteran fighters of the lightweight division.
