Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva expressed his views on Tuesday about
Carlo Ancelotti's appointment as Brazil's national football team coach, stating that Brazil has capable local coaches while acknowledging Ancelotti's technical expertise.
Ancelotti, currently the Real Madrid manager, made history on Monday by becoming the first non-Brazilian coach to be appointed to lead the national team since 1965.

"He has never been Italy's national coach... Why does he not resolve the problems of Italy, which did not even qualify for the 2022 World Cup?" the president had previously questioned in 2023.
Despite his earlier skepticism, Lula described Ancelotti as a "great technician" and expressed hope that "he can help the Brazilian team, first to qualify for the World Cup, and then, if possible, to win it."
Brazil currently hold fourth position in the qualifying phase for the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The team has accumulated 21 points from 14 matches, placing them behind Ecuador, Uruguay, and world champions Argentina.
The qualification system for the 2026 World Cup will allow the top six Latin American teams to secure their spots in the tournament.
The appointment comes at a crucial time as Brazil aim to strengthen its position in the World Cup qualifying campaign under Ancelotti's leadership.
