Govinda and Sunita Ahuja were rumoured to get divorced. When ETimes contacted the actor he reacted and said, "These are only business talks going…I am in the process of starting my films." However, now their lawyer and family friend Lalit Bindal has confirmed that the couple had filed for divorce six months ago. He also added that such things keep happening between couples but things are fine now.
Bindal said in an interview with India Today, "We also travelled to Nepal during the New Year and performed puja together at Pashupati Nath Mandir. Everything is fine between them now. Such things keep happening between couples, but they are going strong and will always be together."
He also added how the social media is just using some of Sunita's statements against the couple and having their own conclusions. He said, "Like when she said mujhe Govinda jaisa pati nahi chaiye (I don’t want Govinda as my husband in next birth), she did add that she wanted a son like him. Or when she said that he was with his own valentine, she meant he was working. It is unfortunate that people are only talking negatively about them when the couple is together, and I can assure that they will always be. No divorce is going to happen."
Mpreover, According to an exclusive ETimes report, speculation is rife that Govinda and Sunita might be heading for a separation due to the actor’s certain friendships. A source close to the family revealed that Sunita had sent a separation notice a few months ago, though no further action has been taken since.
However, when reached for comment, Govinda’s manager,
Shashi Sinha, clarified, “There have been issues between the couple due to certain statements made by some family members, but nothing beyond that. Govinda is currently focused on launching a new film, with artists visiting our office for discussions. We are working towards resolving the situation.”
Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, have been together for over three decades, sharing a journey filled with love, challenges, and unwavering support. They got married in 1987 and have two children. Sunita has been a strong pillar in Govinda’s life, standing by him through his highs and lows in Bollywood. Known for their close-knit bond, the couple has occasionally faced personal challenges, but their relationship has largely been one of resilience and companionship.
