BTS’ Jimin at the centre of controversy as 175 million streams drop for ‘Who’; gets called ‘fraudmin’
Jimin from BTS has found himself and his agency at the centre of a major controversy online as streams from one of the most prominent music streaming applications disappear for his solo song ‘Who’. A total of 175 million streams vanished into thin air for Jim’s song, sparking criticism from netizens and starting online debates regarding the matter.

Sharp decline in streams online

Jimin had lost around 175.8 million streams on the online streaming platform, which caused netizens to spark debates online. The issue first went viral when people shared online posts on a popular fan forum about the idol’s song ‘Who’. The posts shared the song lost streams in large chunks between November 30, 2024, and May 1, 2025. The most significant drop came between January 31 and February 1, as the song lost more than 52 million streams altogether, as shared by Pinkvilla.

Fans and netizens alike sceptical over sudden drop

BTS member Jimin has won many accolades for ‘Who’, and also the song had established itself with scoring major records due to the streaming numbers. The sudden drop in overall streams has sparked controversy online and has made netizens as well as fans question whether the past streams and achievements were true or not.
Many pointed out that there is a high chance that the song ‘Who’s’ early success may have been a result of artificially altered streams. Many BTS ARMY came to the idol’s defence and shared that the numbers before were authentic and actually true. Many alleged that the artist’s agency may have used ‘bot streamers’ to inflate the numbers to score well on the charts.

Impact on Jimin’s career

Many sparked online debates about the matter. Many speculated that the high number of streams before may have been a result of ‘HYBE’s privilege’. Many also shared that the number could’ve also been mishandled entirely by the streaming platform itself. Many fans called for public clarification on the matter and cited concerns that the scale of the loss may have a huge negative impact on Jimin’s career in the entertainment industry.
