After Brock Purdy's extension, the San Francisco 49ers welcome RB Christian McCaffrey back from injury

San Francisco 49ers fans are buzzing with excitement! Brock Purdy, fresh off a stellar three seasons, has inked a massive 6-year, $279.346 million deal. The team's confidence is soaring, especially with Christian McCaffrey's return. A recent Instagram story fueled the hype, showcasing Purdy's power and McCaffrey's celebratory nod to the quarterback's lucrative contract.

It appears that Super Bowl 2026 may belong to the San Francisco 49ers! The reason? They just extended Brock Purdy - someone known for accumulating unreal statistics, including 9,518 passing yards, 64 passing touchdowns, 4 playoff victories, 1 NFC championship, and being a 1-time Pro Bowler - all achieved in just three seasons! Additionally, they have welcomed back their running back, Christian McCaffrey! With QB and RB positions set, the 49ers will become a formidable threat! Once that happens, they will be unstoppable! Just as in Super Bowls XVI, XIX, XXIII, XXIV, and XXIX - those they won, as well as Super Bowls XLVII, LIV, and LVII - the ones they reached but didn’t win, all will come together in Super Bowl LX!

Running back Christian McCaffrey was away from the 2024 NFL season due to bilateral Achilles tendonitis and a torn PCL

On May 16, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports reported that CMC(Christian McCaffrey) was one of the two things with the Carolina Panthers to open his career: All-Pro-calibre or injured. The trend finally returned to San Francisco in 2024, when the multipurpose star followed up an Offensive Player of the Year campaign by missing 13 games with Achilles tendonitis.
Approaching 30, he’s hardly a safe bet to sustain a heavy workload, and his top backup, Jordan Mason, is no longer in town for relief. Still, the rest of the 49ers getting healthy should help ease him back into a starring role for Kyle Shanahan. On May 17, Grant Cohn of Sports Illustrated reported that Christian McCaffrey, who averaged just 4.0 yards per carry last season while dealing with bilateral Achilles tendonitis and a torn PCL, is set to storm back from injury.

On May 16, Christian McCaffrey shared an Instagram story video of 25-year-old quarterback Brock Purdy. Purdy is pointing at his elbow in the video, then raising his arm to express power! McCaffrey captioned it, “Yessir 💰 @brock.purdy13” and attached 50 Cent’s I Get Money song to it!The reason for attaching a (heavy)money bag to the IG story: Brock Purdy signed a 5-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers worth $265 million! It gives Purdy $45 million per year!On May 16, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported, “It’s not a five-year extension that kicks in come 2026. His(Brock Purdy) remaining contract with $5.346 million in salary for 2025 gets torn up and replaced with a six-year, $279.346 million contract. That’s a per-year average from signing of $45.057!”Also Read: Ben Johnson likes where the bye week for the Chicago Bears is - The Times of India
